In November 2014, in a response to Thomas
Piketty's "Capital in the Twenty-First Century," I
published an article entitled "Mr.
Piketty, Winner-Take-All is the Problem" (1). Actually 30 years ago,
in September 1989, in a paper entitled "A Theory of Uniqueness
Value" (2), I had explained why "Winner-Take-All" is a reality of
the US
post-industrial economy of the last half century and had
a correspondence with the late Daniel Bell about it at that time (3). I further elaborated my point in an article entitled
"Social Justice and the Computer Revolution" (4). Today it is
hard to miss the issue in US economy of the 21st Century which
includes shrinking of the middle class but is not limited to it
(5). True that
other postindustrial economies such as Western European countries are not much
different but they compensate for the economic injustice by a strong
Welfare state infrastructure although it has its own woes (6). In the US,
solutions along the European socialist models, were proposed by the Democratic presidential candidate Bernie
Sanders in the last US presidential election in 2016 (7). Also, the Futurists have been
proposing other solutions focusing on abundance (8). One thing which surely
cannot be ignored for too long in the USA is the need for alternative income schemes
(9) and it should be
addressed by all political parties before seeing a collapse in the
economic, social and political fabric due to shortfall of social
justice (10).
Hoping for a democratic and secular futurist republic in Iran,
