Ethnicism and Islamism are Results of Fall of Communism

Again and again we hear of
ethnic separation as a way to achieve social justice in Iran. This is similar to
the last episode of Communism when there were reactionary revolutionaries including the
Taliban and Al-Qaedeh in Afghanistan who were opposing the Soviet dominance of
that country and considered Islamism as a way to achieve social justice in
Afghanistan. In reality there was a Utopian Marxist Thought (1) popular for more
than a century when it was believed Communism will usher in social justice in
the world. With
Twilight of Communism in the middle of 20th Century,
disappointments and disillusionments shattered such beliefs and hopes, and
a search to look for a utopia in the past started; Ethnicism and Islamism were among the
most prominent reactionary solutions to create a new Utopia. They both sought
the support of the United States and Europe to win power and even succeeded in
securing it in many instances (2). But time showed Islamism in the form of
Taliban and Al Qaededh in Afghanistan, Khominism in Iran, and Daesh in Iraq and
Syria not only did not usher in social justice but it was an Islamist Ku Klux
Klan type movement of murder and destruction
for half a century trying to return these societies to
Medieval past. Ethnicism is a similar path seeking a solution for social justice
by glorifying fiefdoms of the past as Utopia to replace the Islamist Ku Klux
Klan with. A futurist approach to reach social justice is neither through
Islamism nor Ethnicism and we need to seek such solutions in the real economy of
21st Century (3), and not by negating the Open Society, rather by embracing it.
