Ever since the victory of Donald Trump in the US election, there is so much talk about fearing the rise of far right in the politics of US, Russia, UK, Austria, France and other countries. Six months before the US presidential election it was extensively discussed why Far Right is not the answer to the challenges of our times; but neither have the left and liberal programs of the last decades been an answer to the challenges of 21st Century (1).
In fact, the rise of Islamism in the last half century was a response to the the failure of the left, liberal and conservative programs in the Middle East when secularism failed in half of the world (2). Moreover, Islamism proved to be very hard to defeat, even after Sept 11, 2001, when the whole Western world was focused on destroying it. In contrast, the rise of Far Right should not be a cause to feel helpless and may not prove to be as formidable. At least a similar experience in the 1930's, including Hitler's fascism, were defeated in less than four years.
