The 45th anniversary of the 1979 Iranian revolution is in three weeks! Over the years, this author has written books, articles* and did interviews related to the 1979 Revolution in Iran. One issue related to the victory of Islamists in the February 1979 revolution is still in the center of attention of Iranians, and that was the role of foreign powers in the victory of this revolution! It is true that in all revolutions in the world, foreign countries, both friends and enemies, have played a role in the victory or defeat of the revolutions, but in the 1979 Iranian revolution, the main point of discussion was that the Western countries supporting the Shah's regime played the main role in bringing the Islamists to victory and the reason has been obvious to everyone for years, and it is not anything new!
Of course, at the time of the 1979 revolution, the USA had the entire Iranian army under its control, and it was in its power to give that control to the Iranian Islamists at that time and it did! While in revolutions such as the American revolution of 1775, the Russian revolution of 1917, the Chinese revolution of 1949, the Vietnamese revolution, and the like, the opposition tried for many years to create a military strength to challenge the ruling regime in order to achieve victory, and in this regards it is rare to find a revolution in history like what happened in Iran of 1979! Even in the great French Revolution, it was the great power of the people's rebellion that brought down and overthrew the military power of the regime, while in Iran it was the Arteshbod Hossein Fardoust who surrendered the army to the Islamists in Iran!
What remains the case! The question is the fact that in the global strategy of the Western countries, as far as the countries where the majority of the inhabitants are Muslims are concerned, the Western powers still consider political Islam and not the secular democrats as their main ally against their most powerful global rivals, that is, against China and Russia, and this was exactly the reason why the Islamists won in the 1979 revolution in Iran and have remained in power in Iran for 45 years!
Hoping for a democratic and secular futurist
republic in Iran,
