Sam Ghandchiسام قندچيٍReza Pahlavi 's Two-Prong Tactic

Sam Ghandchi

Persian Version

1. One group of Iranian progressive movement are busy and active in the site of 60000000 site.  There is a group of Iranian monarchists who try hard to create a bridge between this site and the American neocons.

2. There is another group of Iranian progressive movement, who distance themselves from the 60000000 site, because of the presence of neocons at that site. Mr. Pahlavi has been telling these people that he is also against the neocons, and thus he has been encouraging this group of Iranian progressive movement to confrontation with the U.S.

3. The efforts of Mr. Reza Pahlavi in this whole affair is to prove to the U.S. that all Iranian progressive political forces are either radical, leftist, and anti-American, or that they are upset with the U.S. forever because of the 1953 coup, and thus to give the impression that only monarchy is pro free world, and can be a stable negotiation partner for the U.S. and the West.

Many of Iranian political intellectuals, with a lot of experience have fallen for Reza Pahlavi's two-pronged tactic.

If Mr. Reza Pahlavi was so much against the American neocons, why didn't he himself oppose the neocon intervention, all these years, in his interviews and writings.  In fact, the efforts of part of American neocons, to form the unity of Mojahdein and Monarchy, as the basis of Iran's future government, is not anything new that had started with the call of 60000000 site, and was proposed a long time ago by Daniel Pipes as I explain below.

Two years ago, Daniel Pipes, proposed the thesis of unity with Mojahedin, and at the time I wrote a detailed article criticizing his view (, and I should note that the views of Mr. Pipes are not the view of all American neocons, and furthermore,  the neocons do not represent all the U.S. foreign policy.

But the interesting point is that in My of 2003, at the time of publication of Daniel Pipes' thesis, Mr. Reza Pahlavi and those of the Iranian monarchists who supposedly oppose this plan today, did not even write one word to oppose the views of Daniel Pipes at that time, and do not do that today either, and some of them are actually the brokers between the U.S. and Mojahedin.  Now, why in private discussions with some of the Iranian political activists, Mr. Reza Pahlavi suddenly has become the critic of American neocons, is what I will explain below.

Mr. Reza Pahlavi wants to use the above tactic, to isolate the Iranian progressive movement from the U.S., and Reza Pahlavi's only difference with some of the neocons, is that those neocons do not see monarchy as the alternative for Iran, otherwise Mr. Pahlavi has no problem with the interference of neocons in Iran affairs.  And a bunch of naive people in Iranian political movement have become the launch pad for this new tactic of Reza Pahlavi.

I have written about the importance of *open* relations with the U.S. and the West (  But again one group of our political intellectuals via one faction of the monarchists, and under the excuse of working for the call of referendum and site of 60000000, are sitting in private meetings with the U.S. And another group of our political intellectuals, who oppose the site of 60000000, are sitting in private meetings with Reza Pahlavi and another faction of the monarchists, and are wishfully thinking that Mr. Pahlavi is against the neocons.

Sitting with foreign powers, and sitting with political currents like Reza Pahlavi that are dependent on foreign powers, should be done by leaders of real organizations, and in full *openness*, and with informing the public, and not be behind-the-door deal-making, which results in nothing but damage for Iranian political movement, and the fate of it will not be anything better than the 1919 agreements of Vosooghedoleh.

The game of monarchy and Reza Pahlavi is ended, and the only hope of Reza Pahlavi is to become the U.S.'s  alternative for Iran, and this way to come back to the scene of Iranian politics.  Reza Pahlavi's defense of call for referendum of a group of Iranian intellectuals, and creation of the atmosphere of censorship and rejecting opposing views at the site of 60000000 by his agents, was one side of Reza Pahlavi's tactic, and the so-called opposition of him and another group of monarchists with the neocons, and their so-called implicit support of the Open Letter to American People, is the other side of new tactic of Reza Pahlavi.  It is interesting that both these documents, although opposed to each other, share in not taking a clear position on monarchy, and these intellectuals of ours, have forgotten that for any plan to attack Iran, Iran's Ahmad Chalabi, is none other than Reza Pahlavi himself.

Mr. Reza Pahlavi, for a couple of years, played the dual personality game of simple citizen and a king, and today, he has started playing the new two-pronged tactic with regards to the neocons, to break up the progressive forces of Iranian opposition and to isolate us from the U.S.  If he honestly cared for human rights and independence of Iran, he would have dissolved and ended the monarchy, which since the time of Amir Kabir has not stopped at any trickery to destroy the progressive movement and progressive personalities of Iran.  And he would not waste the time of Iranian political movement with these games, and would have helped our movement in uniting and focusing to form the Second Republic.

Let's honor the birthday of Amir Kabir on 25th of Farvardin (April 13), one of the most important progressive personalities of modern times in Iran, who was killed by the rapier of trickery of royal house of Iranian monarchy. Our society does not need the idler clergy and monarchy, who do not do any useful work for a living, and do not offer anything value to the society.  The continuation of the parasitic life of clergy and monarchy, is maintained by trickery and deception, and by the political and religious games, and not because of having useful role for Iranian society.

The leadership role for reaching the democratic and progressive Iran, cannot be taken by a few intellectuals in behind-the-doors dealings with this and that power broker, but only real independent and futurist political organizations can play such an important function, and Iranian intellectuals should help such real organizations, and not allow the likes of Reza Pahlavi to determine what the real organizations of Iranian people are, and whom are our leaders.

Hoping for a Futurist,  Federal, Democratic, and Secular Second Republic in Iran,
