روز اول فوریه 2017 در پی آزمایش موشکی تهران، ژنرال فلین به جمهوری اسلامی ایران هشدار داد (1). دو روز بعد یعنی سوم فوریه، ژنرال فلین تحریم های تازه ای را علیه ایران اعلام کرد (2). جمهوری اسلامی ایران هم مانورهای موشکی بیشتری را در نزدیکی سمنان انجام داد. روز گذشته یعنی هفتم فوریه 2017 آیت الله خامنه ای در واکنش به هشدارهای آمریکا اعلام کرد که پاسخ دونالد ترامپ را مردم ایران در راه پیمایی 22 بهمن خواهند داد (3).
احتمالاً منظور آیت الله خامنه ای این است که شرکت کنندگان در راهپیمایی، طبق معمول هر ساله شعار "مرگ بر آمریکا" سر خواهند داد که خود می تواند به تنشهای بیشتری دامن بزند. شاید هم منظور این است که دو روز دیگر، شرکت مردم ایران در راه پیمایی 22 بهمن، اثبات حمایت مردمی از رژیم جمهوری اسلامی در هر جنگ احتمالی است.
از سوی دیگر، در آمریکا، واقعیت این است که مخالفتهای وسیعی علیه دونالد ترامپ برسر مسائل گوناگون به راه افتاده، مثلاً در مورد ممنوعیتهای مرتبط با سفر شهروندان 7 کشور مسلمان از جمله ایرانیان به آمریکا؛ اما امکان ابراز این مخالفتها علیه عالیترین مقام کشور، دقیقاً بیان قوت پلورالیسم آمریکا است و نه ضعف آن -- همانطور که چند روز پیش در ارتباط با سخنان آیت الله علم الهدی و درک غلط برخی رهبران جمهوری اسلامی از آمریکا و خطر جنگ، بحث شد (4).
آیا در ایران کسی را می بینیم که بتواند مثل آمریکا به راحتی نظر خود را در مخالفت با رهبران جمهوری اسلامی در خیابانها بیان کند، و مطبوعات آزادی هم باشد که آن اخبار را منعکس کند؟ اگر نه، در آنصورت اهمیت اعلام هر عددی برای تعداد جمعیت شرکت کننده و محتوای شعارهای آنها در راه پیمایی 22 بهمن، نظیر رأی 99 درصدی صدام حسین پیش از سقوط او است، یعنی قابل ارزیابی مستقل توسط مطبوعات آزاد نیست. بازهم لازم است توجه شود که فرصت ایران برای اقدامی مؤثر در ارتباط با بهبود مناسبات با آمریکا بسیار کم، و خطر جنگ با اسراییل هر روز جدی تر می شود (5).

GENERAL FLYNN: Good afternoon, everyone. Recent
Iranian actions involving a provocative ballistic missile launch and an attack
against a Saudi naval vessel conducted by Iran-supported Houthi militants
underscore what should have been clear to the international community all along
about Iran's destabilizing behavior across the entire Middle East.
The recent ballistic missile launch is also in defiance of U.N. Security Council
Resolution 2231, which calls upon Iran not to undertake any activity related to
ballistic missiles designed to be capable of delivering nuclear weapons,
including launches using such ballistic missile technology. These are just the
latest of a series of incidents in the past six months in which Houthi forces
that Iran has trained and armed have struck Emirati and Saudi vessels and
threatened United States and allied vessels transiting the Red Sea.
In these and other similar activities, Iran continues to threaten U.S. friends
and allies in the region. The Obama administration failed to respond adequately
to Tehran's malign actions, including weapons transfers, support for terrorism
and other violations of international norms. The Trump administration condemns
such actions by Iran that undermine security, prosperity and stability
throughout and beyond the Middle East, which places American lives at risk.
President Trump has severely criticized the various agreements reached between
Iran, the Obama administration as well as the United Nations as being weak and
ineffective. Instead of being thankful to the United States in these agreements,
Iran is now feeling emboldened. As of today, we are officially putting Iran on
notice.
