Yesterday, Ms. "Tulsi Gabbard"* appeared in the US Senate, and some US senators * constantly asked her "Was Edward Snowden a traitor?" And at the same time, not only they did not listen to Gabbard's answer, but repeated the phrase "Was Snowden a Traitor?" again and again! Like those senators, I would like to ask, "Was Obama a traitor?" and the reason for my question is that at that time President Obama did not even allow Voice of America (VOA) journalists to investigate and report the details of Snowden's accusations and even blocked the news sources of that institution in this matter so that the journalists could not do their duty as reporters! However, my answer to the question "Was Obama a traitor?" is clear! Mr. Snowden or Mr. Obama have not been convicted of being a "traitor" in any court of law, and it is not the duty of any security or intelligence official to judge whether they are traitors or not?! If someone is going to make such a judgement, it is the court's place, not the intelligence and security officials who are not supposed to be prosecutors, lawyers, and judges! I wish the senators in question would learn from the late Senator John McCain, who even supported the rights of those accused of a horrific crime like 9/11! It would be better for us to learn democracy from the likes of the late Senator McCain, even if we disagree with many of John McCain's views! The ideal of the American Revolution was life, liberty, and happiness, whether in the legislative, judicial, or executive spheres, as Thomas Jefferson who understood the basis of law reminded everyone from day one of this republic!
