Elon Musk is the Knight of 21st Century aiming for the Holy Grail of eliminating bureaucracy in the USA with the help of President Donald Trump through DOGE. I am non-partisan in US politics and what I am writing here is not sarcastic and I really hope Elon can succeed but I just want to say this holy grail has been approached by others in history who failed! Actually among the socialists maybe one of the first ones was Thomas Müntzer in Germany in early 15th Century who even started his own bureaucracy-free state following years of Peasant War in Germany which was crushed in a short time! But the most prominent in this regards was none other than Lenin who wrote a book about structure of states in history entitled "State and Revolution" in which he defined *bureaucracy* and *army* as two pillars of states and said they need to be totally overhauled after the socialist revolution and he even supported the failed theory of dictatorship of proletriat from Marx: i.e. Marx's biggest error! Lenin's book was written shortly before Russia's October Revolution of 1917 but Lenin forgot all he had written in that book when he won power and kept the Tsarist *bureaucracy* untouched after that revolution which still murdered opponents not only during the time of Lenin, as it is well depicted in the novel of Boris Pasternak "Dr. Zhivago," but it all continued during Stalin era and beyond in Gulags!  Bureaucracy in modern states is inherited from times dating before Medieval times that has even been recreated by a solely modern state in the United States and whether 21st Century with the AI revolution can put an end to it is still an open question, at least the prospects to make it happen are still bleak! Nonetheless, Elon and Trump know best who have taken the challenge of dealing with this Holy Grail of 21st Century!
