Lack of Altruism

In final years of Cold War, my late friend Jack Li was a co-founder of a global organization by the name of Beyond War headquartered in Palo Alto, CA and this is how I know about them. After Cold War, those involved in Beyond War created a group called 'Foundation for Global Community' and defined their goal as 'Altruism' which was actually their viewpoint when they were active in Beyond War. They were all very old in post-Cold War years and soon the group was dissolved and they contributed their remaining funds to some charities. I am not a sociologist and may be mistaken but it seems to me 'Altruism' has become less and less prevalent in the post-Cold War era and in its absence, money, power, fame and the likes have become social focus of this first part of 21st Century! This may not be as problematic for Western countries that already have a democracy but for us Iranians who need a regime change and possibly a revolution to reach a democracy, this lack of 'Altruism' can be a serious obstacle to success and it is not only about the Islamist mafia...and all lack of trust originates from this situation.
