از کوکلاکس کلان تا داعش

Today a new heinous crime was committed by Daesh terrorists in Brussels (1), the same way we have witnessed similar terror attacks on Sept 11th of 2001 in New York and on Nov 13th of 2015 in Paris (2).

Daesh is a symbol of resistance to the success of modern world (3), the same way Ku Klux Klan was a symbol of resistance to the success of free society.

It is important to know the difference between the past resistance to colonialism in 19th century and today's Islamism. The former were independence movements including Muslims and non-Muslims, whereas the latter is a reactionary movement trying to role back the clock from modern world onto Medieval Times.

Islam needs to be understood by both Muslims and non-Muslims, within the framework of globalization (4), to avoid extremism in reacting to the atrocities of terrorists, who have chosen the path of murder to achieve their retrogressive goals. Extremism in reaction to these calamities, both in the form of new wars in the Middle East and/or alienating Muslims in the West (5), is falling into the reactionary plans of Islamist extremists (6).

Hoping for a democratic and secular futurist republic in Iran,
