We have discussed JCPOA many times in the last 7 years! On August 11, 2015, I signed a petition entitled 'Support Diplomacy with Iran.' At the time I was criticized by my dear friend Dr. Esmail Nooriala because he considered that initiative to be by IRI Lobbyists. I still defended my decision as a way to stop the war with Iran which worked! Two days ago, I strongly condemned the same lobbyists at this time of negotiations to return to JCPOA because of their intimidation of human rights activists like Hossein Ronaghi who is a Prominent Civil Rights Leader inside Iran, all because of their difference of opinion about the current situation! Besides the legitimate need to play by the rules, I just want to note the 'realpolitik' of today vs 7 years ago!
But first let's remember what happened 5 years after JCPOA was signed, i.e. 2 and a half years ago, when President Donald Trump considered attack on 52 cultural sites in Iran! This is what President Trump wrote on Twitter on January 5, 2020 and unfortunately the twitter link is no longer accessible, but here is the text of his tweet:
"...targeted 52 Iranian sites (representing the 52 American hostages taken by Iran many years ago), some at a very high level & important to Iran & the Iranian culture, and those targets, and Iran itself, WILL BE HIT VERY FAST AND VERY HARD. The USA wants no more threats!"*
The next day I was among many others who called the plan as destruction of Iran and asked for a stop of such decision! I can say for sure that rejection of such a decision by some prominent Iranians and especially the strong rejection of the decision by Shahbanou Farah Pahlavi played a major role in President Trump changing his mind (unfortunately I cannot find the link of her posting on the Internet now but it should be somewhere, and if I find it, I will add later), and I can assure the readers President Trump was really serious to make such an attack and would have done it! NIAC and other lobbyists did not make a dent to change the situation! Check for yourself!
Now what are we dealing with now? I have written enough about the world situation after Russia's invasion of Ukraine and that Russia's Putin is a huge danger for Iran. In fact, more than all other things, current siding of IRI with Russia and allowing Russia to have colonial free hand in Iran's Military, is making Iran a target like Japan during WWII when Western democracies ended up to bomb Hiroshima with a nuclear bomb to defeat the *Axis powers*. Let me note clearly that all nuclear weapons of Iran and Pakistan together are peanuts if US and Israel get into limited nuclear war with Russia using bases in Iran and having the nuclear presence in Iran is putting Iran on the front line of any war, if the world situation gets to that point and it will not be a war like Iran-Iraq war but will be a nuclear devastation like Hiroshima! True that people like Henry Kissinger view the Ukraine situation like Vietnam and are trying to reach a peace agreement and I hope they are right, but if the situation comes close to WWII times (and maybe worse), Iran would be a major target because of Russia's presence and any talk of nuclear threats coming from IRI will make Iran an immediate target and actually 15 years ago I presented my research and analysis of this reality of the danger of Iran's Nuclear Program and unfortunately did not have the time to translate that article which was entitled 'Reason of War because of Nuclear Program' and if anybody can translate and publish it in English, I would appreciate it. This is in a nutshell the situation we are dealing with now. What friends like Dr. Esmail Nooriala and the Iranian Secular Democratic Party under his leadership have been doing during the last decade to establish a Secular Democratic Alternative in Iran, is what we all need to do to save Iran!
Hoping for a democratic and secular futurist republic in Iran,
