Yesterday I published an article entitled "Marx's Diminishing Returns Accompanies Kurzweil's Accelerating Change" (1) where the impact of Ray Kurzweil's Law of Accelerating Returns on jobs was discussed. My thanks to Ray Kurzweil who sent me the following comment today which is really great and eye-opening that I am sharing below with Ray's permission. Ray Kurzweil writes:
"The law of accelerating returns is going to impact industries we have not traditionally thought of as information technologies. In the 2020s we will print out clothing with 3D printers so clothing will be like music, snap together modules to put together houses and buildings (this has already been demonstrated in Asia). We will grow high quality chemical free food through AI controlled vertical agriculture: hydroponic plants for fruits and vegetables and in vitro cloning of muscle tissue for (animal cruelty free) meat."
Kurzweil's comment shows what I noted that economic sectors such as housing not being touched like information-based industries, will be part of information-based technologies in the next decade and thus can be addresses the same way by ending scarcity. My appreciation for Ray Kurzweil shedding light on this matter.
