This year's Oscar for Asghar Farhadi's movie entitled "Salesman" has itself become a reality show of Iran's situation. So many critiques have been published about the way Asghar Farhadi handled this occasion (1). What can we expect from a film director when Islamic reformists have the largest organization abroad, i.e. NIAC, and we the Iranian secular democrats who want regime change (2) do not have a lobby of our own to protect the rights of Iranians abroad and to oppose Islamic Republic of Iran (3). Also unfortunately Iranian secular democrats have not clearly condemned anti-democratic MKO cult (4), which is a Shiite Version of Daesh presenting itself as Iranian opposition abroad and this fact adds to the fear of those like Asghar Farhadi to support Iranian secular democratic opposition.
The situation is similar to the time of the Green Movement in Iran when the only alternative that remained for those who were not political and opposed the regime, was to side with the Islamic reformists. We need to support the growth of organizations like Iranian Secular Democratic Party (5) that are trying to create a new alternative political organization for secular democrats of Iran. Making such organizations is the work of political activists but they need political and financial support of every Iranian. Asghar Farhadi cannot do the work of a political organization, but if such efforts of the likes of Iranian Secular Democratic Party (6) succeed, the likes of those who rose up during the Green Movement in Iran or individuals like Asghar Farhadi, will have an alternative political party to support.
