It is a shame that Iranians who oppose the Islamic Republic are themselves
prejudiced against the gays and Iran's opposition is basically silent about this
grave violation of human rights by many Iranians even those living
abroad.
The gays are a group who are being threatened with death sentence in Iran's law
for who they are by birth, something which they have no control on and is their
biology.
When is the Iranian community going to understand the equal rights for LGBT?
When are the opposition groups going to start talking about this taboo subject?
How can opposition even consider itself progressive and tolerate those in its
own ranks who make jokes and justify discrimination against the gays (1).
It is not just Daesh murdering the gays (2). Islamic Republic of Iran still has
a legal code of the death sentence for gays for just being who they are. I have
discussed this issue several times with the Iran's opposition but the thought
leaders intentionally ignore the discussion because they are afraid of those in
their own ranks who are homophobic (3).
Hoping for a democratic and secular
futurist republic in Iran,
